Contest Rules & Conditions

Eligibility

The contest is open to legal residents of Canada (excluding the Province of Quebec) over the age of majority in the province or territory in which he/she resides. Only one entry per customer. Employees of Urban Barn Ltd. ("Urban Barn") (and its parent companies) and their spouses, parents, siblings and children and persons domiciled with an employee of Urban Barn (and its parent companies) are ineligible to enter.

Content Restrictions:

The submission must not contain images, design or artwork not created by entrant or material that violates or infringes another"s rights, including privacy, publicity, intellectual property rights, or that constitutes copyright or trademark infringement.

Entry Information:

Please note that by entering this contest and submitting a photo for this promotion, you are agreeing that Urban Barn may publish your photo, your image, your first initial, last name and city of residence on our website and in our email newsletter.  This contest is subject to all applicable federal, provincial and municipal laws and regulations.

Contest Description:

Contest begins at 9:00 a.m. PST on Monday, August 31st, 2009 and closes on Sunday, September 20, 2009 at 11:59:59 p.m. PST.  Contestants are invited to submit photographs, via Urban Barn"s website, of furniture that the judges will review.  The piece that the panel of judges determines, in their sole discretion, to be the least attractive will be chosen as the winner.

Prizes:

a. Contest Grand Prize: ONE (1) CONTEST GRAND PRIZE: $5,000 Urban Barn gift card. Approximate Retail Value ("ARV"): $5,000 CAD. Odds of winning depend on the total number and caliber of eligible entries received during the contest period.

b. Forward to a Friend Prize: (1) FORWARD TO A FRIEND PRIZE: $500 Urban Barn gift card. ARV: $500 CAD. This will be awarded if the Grand Prize winner entered as a result of their friend emailing the contest details.

For All Prizes: Prize must be accepted as awarded.  No cash equivalent will be provided and all prizes are non-transferable and no substitution will be made unless Urban Barn, in its sole discretion, determines otherwise. Urban Barn reserves the right to substitute a prize for one of equal or greater value should it become unavailable for any reason. Winners are responsible for all taxes, fees and costs (including delivery) associated with prize receipt and/or use. All prize details are at Urban Barn"s sole discretion. TOTAL ARV OF ALL PRIZES: $5,500 CAD.

The prizes may not be sold, transferred and are not convertible to cash. Urban Barn reserves the right to exclude any entry without notice and to reasonably alter or cancel the contest in the event of a technical failure, fraud or other circumstance beyond its reasonable control. The decision of the judges is final. No purchase is necessary to enter.  Selected entrants must first correctly answer, unaided, a time limited skill testing question administered by Urban Barn. 

All entries must be received before midnight (PST) on September 20th, 2009. Failure to provide sufficient contact details means we cannot award prizes, and as such, those entries cannot be accepted. Urban Barn will attempt to contact the potential winner, by telephone, within two (2) business days after the decision by the judges.  In the event the potential winner cannot be contacted within 2 business days, he or she will be disqualified and an alternate potential winner will be determined by the judges.  Proof of identification must be provided upon request.  The contest winner must agree to and sign a release as a condition to and prior to receiving the prize.  If you choose not to subscribe to our newsletter this will not influence your entry. Prize will be received within one month of when the winner is announced.

Urban Barn assumes no responsibility or liability for: (i) entries lost, stolen, late, delayed, damaged, mutilated, garbled, illegible, incomplete or misdirected (any illegible entries shall be declared null and void); (ii) any problems or technical malfunctions of any telephone network or lines, computer online systems or servers, computer software problems, traffic congestion on the internet or at any website; and (iii) damage to entrant"s or any person"s computer or for breaches of privacy due to interference by third party computer "hackers", arising as a result of participating in this contest.  In the event of a dispute as to who submitted an entry, the entry will be declared made by the Authorized Account Holder of the email address submitted at the time of entry.  "Authorized Account Holder" is defined as the individual to whom an email address is assigned by the organization that is responsible for the domain. 

By entering this contest, the entrants automatically agree to accept and abide by these contest rules.  All decisions by Urban Barn with respect to any aspect of this contest, including without limitation the eligibility of entries, are final and binding on all entrants in all matters as they relate to this contest.   All entries become the sole property of, and are subject to verification by Urban Barn and in no case shall be returned to the sender.  Any attempt to tamper with the entry process, interfere with these official contest rules and regulations deliberately damage any website or undermine the administration, security or legitimate operation of the contest, is a violation of criminal and civil laws, and Urban Barn reserves the right to seek damages and/or other relief from all persons responsible for such acts to the fullest extent permitted by law, which may include banning or disqualifying entrants from this and future Urban Barn contests.
